Season of Gratitude

Thank you to everyone who joined us at our Indicators & Insights Summit this week. It was incredible to see so many of you there – more than 170 partners in total – engaging with our speakers and connecting with our agencies. We hope you left feeling informed and inspired for the year ahead, especially with the reminder that tourism works FOR you – just as it much as it works BECAUSE of you.

If you’re looking to stay in the loop on what’s happening with our campaigns, media efforts, PR initiatives, and more, be sure to check out VisitSarasotaCountyTransparency.com or keep an eye on this monthly e-newsletter for ongoing updates.

And don’t forget, we also host quarterly recaps where we dive into visitor metrics, campaign results, and industry insights to keep you informed all year long. Our Tourism U professional development series will also kick back up in the new year..

We’re grateful to continue promoting you as part of our tourism community.

October Visitor Snapshot from Zartico

This year, thanks to new funding, we are utilizing a platform called Zartico to analyze visitor movement and spend. These insights along with data from our research firm, Downs and St. Germain, will give us a deeper understanding of our visitor and help us market to them more effectively.

  • 20% of all spend in Sarasota County came from visitors from 50+ miles .
  • Tampa-St. Pete was the top visitor market accounting for 14% of visitors followed by Ft. Myers-Naples at 8% and Orlando at 7%.
  • New York (5%) and Washington DC (4%) were top out of state markets followed by San Antonio and Baltimore.
  • 31% of visitors had a household income of $151K+

*Data from Zartico comes from a sample size of credit card spending and cell phone geolocation data. To be considered a visitor for credit card spend data, the billing zip code needs to be out of the area. For location data, it is where the cell phone has been overnight the most in the last 30 days (it's home location).
