Social Search Is Changing the Game

People aren’t just Googling anymore. They’re discovering places, brands and experiences through social content first. This recent Meta for Business article explores how social search and traditional search now work together, especially as consumers turn to reels, creators and visual storytelling for inspiration before making decisions.

For tourism and hospitality partners, it’s a good reminder that engaging content can play a big role in helping travelers discover your business.

Local Media

Our Partnership & Sports teams pitch local journalists, freelancer writers, and publications to strengthen understanding and appreciation for Sarasota County's powerhouse tourism industry among residents and local businesses alike.

Siesta Key Beach’s ranking as the No. 1 Beach in the United States by U.S. News & World Report brought in significant coverage and continued throughout the month as additional accolades rolled in for this quartz-sand gem.

April Visitor Snapshot from Zartico

This year, thanks to new funding, we are utilizing a platform called Zartico to analyze visitor movement and spend. These insights along with data from our research firm, Downs and St. Germain, will give us a deeper understanding of our visitor and help us market to them more effectively.

In April 2026:

  • 31% of all spend in Sarasota County came from visitors from 50+ miles.
  • Tampa-St. Pete and Orlando were the top visitor markets accounting for 8% of visitors followed by New York at 5%.
  • 17% of visitors came from within 50 miles of Sarasota County but are not residents of Sarasota County. They accounted for 11% of restaurant spend and 15% of retail spend.
  • 34% of visitors had a household income of $151K+, 25% were aged 65+ and 42% have children in their household.
Explore Q2 Visitor Behavior and Municipality Reports

*Data from Zartico comes from a sample size of credit card spending and cell phone geolocation data. To be considered a visitor for credit card spend data, the billing zip code needs to be out of the area. For location data, it is where the cell phone has been overnight the most in the last 30 days (it's home location).
